About this Site

If you are viewing this, you've probably seen some pictures I've made with cut-up change and would like to know more about them or why I would do this.  In short, the cut-up coins are metaphors for the most broken, seemingly worthless, and most unnoticed of us, and the message is that even those whose current economic value is diminished (such as those who are very elderly or are otherwise afflicted with physical and/or mental impairments) can fit just right in a nice picture, and can still be as hard, shining, and sharp as ever, regardless of the lack of economic value.  It's not for everyone, but nothing really is for everyone, anyway.  I have a few other pictures and poems on here, some along the same theme (like the black cat picture and story), and some that digress.

About Me

I came to Florida in 1988 with my family due to the farming crisis, then studied politics and criminal justice in college, graduating in 2005 from the University of Florida.  Since then, I've had jobs in the service sector, public sector, corporate sector, and non-profit sector.  Having a long-standing interest in social justice but little voice, this is something I do in hopes others will appreciate and perhaps find encouragement in the metaphors.  If you would like to reach me to give input or ask any questions, please email me at amyesell@hotmail.com.  Thanks!
